Remember not to forget. Create a simple system by the door to help you remember your new routine or special items you need to take with you each day: gym shoes on gym day, violin on music day, and snacks on snack day. Hang a bin or basket by your door to corral the items you need to remember, or create a fun little “don’t forget” door hanger with a built in pocket for your daily checklist.
I made this using a Creative Imaginations Bare Elements door hanger, rub-ons and chip board arrow from American Crafts, my very favorite paper line (Romani by Basic Grey) and a storage bin label. It’s super simple to make:
- Cover door hanger with card stock using craft glue stick.
- Sand off excess card stock using sanding block.
- Apply rub-on letters.
- Cover door hanger and chip board arrow with decoupage. Let dry.
- Glue arrow to door hanger.
- Adhere storage bin label and fill with your daily reminder checklist.
Voila! Never forget gym shoes on gym day again.
love this idea…i will be implementing it SOON!
Holy crap – that is the cutest idea ever! Would also make a cute gift-topper for a shower. What new mom wouldn’t like a checklist of things to put in the diaper back before she leaves?!
Very cute! Can I pass on a tip that works for me? We have a metal door in our mudroom, so I printed out items to remember on magnet sheets, like “library books”, “swim suits”, etc. On the days we need those things, I put that magnet front & centre!
I just wanted to let you know that I stumbled upon your blog sometime last week and I’m just loving it. It’s become a ‘happy place’ to visit each day and I’m eagerly awaiting to see more posts and photos of your fun creative organizing projects. You’ve inspired me. Once I get to a few projects of my own I’ll be sure to pass on some photos to you. Thanks for doing what you do!

Hey Aby – thanks for the Newsletter and ideas. . .I am a Back to School addict. . .I LOVE it! The supplies. the planning. . .the newness of it all. . .
I am intrigued by the command central binder. . .I may hae to order one over the weekend. I just put together a bonder for each of my sons for school – nothing fancy a blue plastic binder for Owen(his “color” on the calendars is aqua) and green for Ryan – yep, that’s his color. I plan to keep all the school papers that I need, or feel I need to hold onto for the year in here. . .divided by category.
It makes me smile to see them up there. . .I’m thinking a nice espresso command central binder for the family would be a nice accompaniment. . .
Have a great weekend!
Hillary
That is so stinkin cute!! I love it.
LOVE this idea, Aby!
have you thought about selling these doorhangers (or are you too busy to make more)?
