Sometimes finishing up a lingering task really does feel like a victory, doesn’t it? I firmly believe in recognizing and celebrating our accomplishments—the big ones and the small ones. There’s often a tendency to only see what’s left to do on our to-do list, instead of recognizing all the check marks we’ve made along the way. So even if you didn’t get it *all* done this weekend, take a moment to pat yourself on the back for what you did get done!
So let’s share: what did you finish this weekend? I’d love to hear! Here’s my list:
- Grocery shopping. Hooray. This one got done on Friday.
- Update the family calendar. Done!
- Sign Kailea up for soccer. Check!
- Decluttered + spruced up the homework / craft center.
- Bought, labeled and packed school supplies. This one is a pretty sizable victory…such an involved project for some reason.
Can’t wait to hear what you wrapped-up this weekend. Have a happy Monday!
My plan was to clean up my guest room and take pictures of it so that I can rent it out to travelers. I got a good chunk of the work done but it was more time-consuming than I expected. I’ll have to finish wrapping that up this week. On the plus side, I did create the listing that will go up online once the room’s ready so it’ll be all set to go as soon as I’ve finished it up completely.
Some other lingering things I did get done:
– Returned an overdue library book. Why was that really so hard?!
– Called a friend I’ve been meaning to call for months.
– Did the grocery shopping for the month.
– Transferred all of the music from a set of CDs into my music library.
Yay!
Thanks for encouraging us here. 🙂
Finally got work shoes for my husband and two pairs so he is set now. He cleaned out his shoes and organized them. Have a 1/2 bag to donate. Woohoo!! Cleaned out my card basket and organized by sections. Not alot but finding shoes was a huge task that is completed. 🙂 You really got a lot done this weekend. Good for you!
I cleaned my fridge!
I feel like I had such a successful weekend. I~
1. Organized my paper clutter! It was everywhere, 3 purses, briefcase, all over the desk, bar and in a box cleared off from my desk at work. Now in proper files, labled and put away.
2. Fully finished all laundry. Every stick and bit, including matching up all stray socks and throwing out those which haven’t had matches in months/years.
3. Went shopping with daughter, tried on clothes and actually bought a pair of pants and two tops. I hate to shop and was just about naked so this was a major accomplishment.
4. Got enough done that I was in good enough mood to go to movie with husband. No multi-tasking, no worrying about the cost, just quality time with my sweetie.
It was a great weekend. Thanks for the motivation!
I scrapped 6 pages, put away the laundry from last week, cleaned up the toys AND vaccumed the basement playroom!
I think we had quite a productive weekend….
I placed our order for Service Foods and took advantage of a great sale offer they had this weekend.
I clipped coupons, checked websites and did our monthly grocery shopping.
My daughter went through a bag of school uniforms from a friend to see what fits. We’re going to take them back to her today, pay for what we want and give back what didn’t fit.
I went to the bank – got our monthly bills paid and monthly budget all organized.
Got school supplies labeled and packed to go, we start Thursday!
And we spent time with my husband’s grandmother who is in town for a few days.
I purged my house of 5 or so years of unneeded stuff…all the accumulated stuff since I became a mom. Sent hubby on 5 separate car-full trips to Goodwill! I feel so much better…I can breathe…I can move around…can finally relax!
You are so inspiring Aby. I sat down and made a list of my most dreaded tasks and will be doing 1 or 2 or more (depending on the involvement) every Friday until I get them all done. I have 17 things on my list and this weekend I got 2 done. Re-doing my inspirational craft binders–throwing away old ideas, inserting new ones I have been collecting. I also sat down and made myself a “chore” chart for once school starts so that I can keep myself motivated. I even included scrapping, reading, blogging and movie watching time for myself. And I am getting ready to work on a “master” grocery list (thanks for that idea too).
Um… what did I say I was going to do? Well, I did get 3 cards done but none of the album pages. Oh well.
I would love to hear more about your personal “chore” list, Lori! I have been trying to do something like that for myself for a quite a while. Thanks!
I got a bookcase moved back in from the garage and set up the twins’ reading center (to read, read, to test w/Accelerated Reading program, already tested) for this year. It had been sitting in the garage with misc. stuff on it since our pipebreak flood in Oct. So, more space in the garage and organized reading center in the house -SCORE! Cleaned the scrapbooking/craft stuff out of the dining room (it was sitting on the floor from a trip to Donna Downey’s fabric scrapbooking classes in Houston several weekends ago), purchased & sorted all the school supplies, purchased & put away all groceries for the month and cleaned all the paper piles off the counters in the kitchen.
All in all? A very good weekend! Thanks Aby!!!
I have to say it was a productive weekend as well. I organized a lot of paper clutter: weekly mail and bills to be filed. Also, I am half way done with cleaning all of our wood blinds in the house!!
This successful Friday was a goal I have had for 2 years. I got my husband to move a broken 25 cubic foot freezer, out of my sewing/craft storeroom. I got to put my big armoire, for my materials, into the storeroom. This was the last of my 15 minute goals. Thank you Amy for starting me on my 15 minute declutter goals. Now for the organizing onward! A girlfriend is coming from another state to help me with that. Thanks again Amy, you are a real inspiration.
