“Hi, my name is Aby and I’m a plastic bin addict.” It’s true. I love plastic bins. In fact, the last time I cleaned out my basement I threw out over 45 plastic bin lids. (And I still kept some, you know, just in case.)
For me to say I’ve found a product I like even better than lidded plastic bins is BIG news. Guess what? I’ve got big news.
My new favorite storage container: storage drawer bins. Essentially, you get a bin and a frame that makes the bin work like a drawer. Why is this so great? You can stack the drawers on top of one another and still have easy access to the stuff in your bottom bin. I love that!
Here are some ideas on how to use this great product:
- In your child’s room or closet for large toys. Because they stack, you’ll use more vertical space. Yeah you!
- Have two drawer sets, one in your child’s room, and one in your longer term storage area such as a basement. This is a great way to cycle toys in and out. Keep one set of toys in your child’s room — then when you hear “I’m bored” swap the drawers out.
- Store seasonal hobby supplies. Do you knit in the winter and garden in the summer? Keep your knitting supplies in a drawer in a convenient location in the winter, and store your gardening books, seeds, etc. in the second set of drawers in your long term storage area. When the seasons (and your hobbies change) swap the drawers’ locations!
What brand or brand are there in storage drawer bins? What brand is used in the picture above? And where do you buy them? Thanks so much.
The storage drawer bins were made by Sterilite. I believe I got them at WalMart many years ago. It doesn’t look they are made anymore, but here’s something similar:

Aby
I bought the ones that you are talking about above Aby for my sons room..in his closet. They are great but you can not store anything on top…I had the sweat shirt on top and it made it sag and the top drawer became almost impossible to open or close…it is permanently in the “sagging” position…I wish the frame were stronger.
Just an FYI…
Oh what a bummer. We’ve used ours for years and they never sagged…and I think they always had stuff on top. Sorry you didn’t have better luck with yours. I wonder if they changed how they make them…?
