= year end accounting made bearable.
That was tonight’s big who-rah: accounting. Do I know how to live, or what?
But I have to say, for spending a Saturday night in, doing my least favorite thing in the world (accounting—oh wait, it goes root canals, then accounting) it wasn’t so bad given this: my office is my haven.
I walked in tonight (from Jay’s office after picking up something off the printer) and just went…ahhhhh…
Norah Jones playing softly in the background.
Crème brulee candle burning a sweet, warm scent.
My little space heater blowing warm air at my feet.
The lighting…just right.
I share this just in case you’re creating a space of your own. It isn’t just about the sights. Remember all your senses when you create your organized and inspired space.
Is your space warm enough? Cool enough?
Bright enough? Dark enough?
Loud enough? Quiet enough?
And…do you have your creature comforts close at hand? Water, wine or whatever works for you?
It matters.
I did accounting on a Saturday night and it was *almost* enjoyable.
Atmosphere matters.
LOL at that – you see, I’m a bookkeeper, have an appointment with our accountant this Thursday, and I sooo dread this time of year – too bad I can’t have wine at work! But in my scraproom….hmmmm…now you’re talking. And thanks for the candle reminder – I used to have candles in my old house and they didn’t find a place in my new room in this house – must get on that.
Girl I am right up there with you! Its all about atmosphere and SO many people don’t get that. As for accounting — it takes a well organized brain to enjoy that. I am the only one that finds pleasure in balancing my checkbook..
SO YOU GO GIRL
Nice post! I’m interested in knowing about your just-right lighting. I know when I’m working in my home office after dark the overhead light is too harsh (even though it’s on a rheostat) but the floor lamp doesn’t seem to be enough. Maybe a floor lamp + a desk lamp is what I need. Or maybe I just need a glass of wine…
Ahhh… I ahve to do that today and I am dreading it! I keep putting it off and I know I can’t do it any longer. Off to the books! I am glad you made it through yours.
You are so right about the atmosphere you create, whether it’s your office or home. Creating a beautiful (and organized) space to live and/or work in makes life so much more enjoyable, reduces stress and inspires us to soar to higher levels!
