Hello friends and happy Friday. I hope you had a great week. My camera broke yesterday so my week hit a bumpy patch. 🙁 But that’s not what this blog post is all about. As you probably gathered from the title, I have decided to discontinue the Finish It Friday series. For those of you who have joined me in the past, and especially to my faithful Finish It Friday friends, I send you a big thanks for joining me all these weeks. I know for sure that sharing my to-do list here has helped me get more stuff done around home on the weekends, and it has also helped me make sure that my weekends aren’t all work and no play.
So, you may be wondering why, in light of all that good stuff, I’ve decided to stop Finish It Friday. Here’s why. When I first started blogging, I had what seemed like an endless supply of ideas for blog posts. I blogged about life, organizing, my family, stuff that was on my mind. Whatever. Everywhere I looked there were ideas for blog posts. Finish It Friday has become a blogging crutch for me. It’s time for something different. Something fresh. Something new. I’m not exactly sure what all that will entail, but I do know that works for me! When I don’t know what I’m going to blog about, that seems to be when I get my best ideas—messages that I want to share, messages that really connect and help my readers. And who knows, maybe I’ll decide to do a form of Finish It Friday on Facebook. (If you would like that…let me know.)
For old times sake, here’s my to-do list for this weekend:
Fun
- Run 6 miles. My half-marathon training is going well. Can’t believe I’m almost done with my fourth week! Check! Okay, I ran 5 miles two times. I”m going to say that counts. 🙂
- Dinner out with Jay and friends. Check!
- Bike ride on Sunday. Check!
Done
- Meal plan + grocery shop. Check!
- Laundry. Check!
- Sell flute. I’ve had a couple of nibbles. Keep your fingers crossed—I’d love to get this sold and off my to-do list. Check!
- Read. Check!
I think it is going to be too hot to paint finish painting the chairs, so I’ll be consulting my home to-do list to find something else I feel inspired to do this weekend.
What’s on your to-do list this weekend? Thanks for sharing in the comments!
Happy Friday!
This makes me a little sad as I find these posts inspiring and remind me to put together my own to do list for the weekend and have helped me stay productive. But I love reading your words of wisdom so I’m sure I’ll love what comes next.
Hey you should blog about your most recent paper clipping round table episode!
Sorry about your camera. Ours broke the day before vacation! I picked up a Nikon cool pix and I’m loving it.
I’m still in vacation recovery mode and getting pack in the swing of things. Luci starts preschool Tuesday!
My done list:
*end of the month checklist
* sort mail
* meal plan and grocery shop
* finish book for book group
My fun list:

Thanks Alissa! Good idea to blog about Paper Clipping. 🙂 Hope you have a great weekend.
I’m so bummed that Finish-it Fridays are going away. I will say it has really given me a push to have a productive weekend. I realize I can continue this on my own but I loved the accountability of checking in. 🙂 I’m not on facebook all that much so I wouldn’t find it useful on there. Just my two cents….
Hope everyone has a great long weekend 🙂

I used to join in regularly but haven’t for a while now. I always loved seeing what everyone else was getting done though! I think Facebook would be a great venue for it. I am not going to add in a list today either (just too tired to even think about a to do list after spending the day at a theme park with 4 pre teen girls and a 7 yr old boy) but I am excited about what ideas you will have for the future!
What make of flute are you trying to sell, and how much do you want for it? I keep flutes in Idaho and Sacramento so as not to have to take my good one through airport security. I may need to have another one in another place.
I’d like to know more about your flute too. My daughter wants to learn to play, but mine Geiminheardt open hole is too large for her hands and I don’t have the covers for the holes any more, so she hasn’t been able to. We are on the hunt for one for her!
Thanks!
Oh thanks Frances and Ramie. A lady contacted me on Friday night and came to look at it yesterday. Her daughter bought it. It was a Yamaha. I’m sorry about the timing. I should have blogged about the flute last weekend.

oh Aby ~ so sad to miss the last finish it friday although it was busy here with DD’s birthday tea for the family.
After the ‘how to stay organised’ class, I’ve fallen in love with the finish it idea all over again and decided to make one or two Monday’s each month my finish it days. Rather than forming a list of regular chores, my day is dedicated to finishing lingering projects and tasks that I put off. So far I’ve had two finish days and am loving the relief I get from seeing and thinking about less things that nag me 🙂
I chose Monday’s as this is also my most productive day, I feel spurred into activity after the change of pace of the weekend.
would love a facebook group except that I don’t think I’d want to post my list for all my friends to see… so perhaps just a post to celebrate achievements after the event…
