Happy Monday morning my friends! I hope you had a great weekend full of fun and getting things done. My weekend was good. Unexpectedly we spent half of both Saturday and Sunday at a basketball tournament—so the weekend was different than expected in a more fun sort of way. I’m really glad I kept my list short this weekend, since my time was cut short, too. Okay, here’s my update:
To Finish
- Laundry. (Check. Though I’m still doing laundry this morning because I had to wash a basketball uniform a couple of extra times this weekend. So…I’m actually going to be ahead on the laundry game this week. Woohoo!)
- Office paper project. (Check. I made good progress here, though technically I’m not finished. But, I feel good about the progress I did make. The rest of the project will be finished up naturally, as I work on and finish up some projects.)
Play List
- Read. (Check. I did quite a bit of reading in the car on the way to and from the basketball tournament.)
- Relax with my family. (Check. Check. Check. I did lots of good relaxing this weekend including a four episode Oprah marathon and some card playing with the kids. Really fun.)
- Organize / decorate another binder. (Check.)
- Boot Camp. (Check. And I’m much less sore this week than I was last week. Woohoo—this is progress!)
How was your weekend? I can’t wait to hear! Thanks again for playing along and inspiring me to have more fun and get more done. 🙂
TO PLAY:
1. Meet friend at Y for the Elliptical. Short swim after. Check! Check!
2. Waffleman at Elementary School tonight Check! and YUM!
3. Take kids to brunch and open gym time at the Y (it’s been cold and snowy here, so I’m planning ahead ‘get the energy out’ activities for the weekend)Check! We ended up hitting the Y first then headed out to lunch. The kids wore themselves out and then behaved beautifully at the restaurant. It was a great day!
3. Sunday activity??? Check! We played in the snow! This may seem like a small thing, but with five kids to bundle up, it takes some real effort.
TO FINISH:
1. Calls for Appointments: 10th grade enrollment, orthodontist, physical therapy, preschool enrollment Check. Check. Check. (Two of these were this morning, because I wanted to be able to come here and check them off lol.) The last one isn’t a check. I’m going to have 2 three year olds and a young five in preschool next year. Figuring out where I can get all their needs met is going to take more than a phone call, so this is my project for this week.
2. Organize therapy notes (we have a couple of special needs kiddos) and decide on three areas of parenting focus for each child with hubby. Check for organize notes, Still need to find time to talk with the hubby.
3. Pay Bills Check.
4. Finish MBR Project (I made progress this week, there’s nothing left in there that doesn’t ‘belong’, but I want to go back through one last time and see if I can eliminate another layer. An empty shelf would be nice!)Not a check, but still pleased with the progress I’m making. My closet is a room, so it’s easy to stash things there that I ‘might’ need later. I’m trying to take a hard look at my possessions. I’m ready to stop organizing clutter and get things done to what I need and use. It’s taking some time to let go mentally.
ALWAYS ON MY LIST:
1. Laundry Check!
2. School paperwork (I’m on top of it, so I need to stay that way!)Check!
3. Exercise! Check! I’m really proud of myself on this one. My total exercise for the week was 7 hrs 25 mins!!!
I didn’t get to list the things I wanted to do this weekend. My computer internet went down again but they got it running for the weekend. I was just going to hang around the house, read and relax. That worked for Saturday and Sunday hubby and I got some major things down around the house.
1. Wash and also did all the rugs
2. Cleaned entire house and so happy this morning
3. Sorted Christmas ornaments that no longer go on the tree and decided what to keep and what to donate. So happy this is finally done – been on my to-do-list for a few years. Woohoo!
4. Got caught up on some emails.
I always enjoy Finish It Fridays – I get so motaviated to get a few more things done and posting a list really does make you want to stick to it. Thanks for all your advice Abby. Have a great day!
Play:
1. Go shopping for home decor with the Husband (using our gift card so we keep with our New Year’s Resolution to save $$). Check, although we didn’t find anything so this will be on the Play list again.
2. Hang out with my Mom. This will probably consist of dinner and a movie out our place. Check but she came shopping with us instead!
Work:
1. Quick declutter of the various areas in the house, using your low hanging fruit method! Check!
2. Bring items to Goodwill. Check!
3. Bathe the dog. No check.
4. Tackle a few small items on my Bugs list (it’s a list of things in my home/life that bug me, like a leaky faucet, pile of paper, etc). Check! I tweeked our entryway and added some folders with labels, switched some things in the guest bath to better use space and repeated that process in the kitchen, labeled some baskets, and cleaned out my work bag.
The Usual:
1. Clean house. Check!
2. Do all laundry. Double check1 Cleaned, folded, and all put away!
My weekend didn’t go quite as planned either since I had failed to account for time spent at work on Saturday and how that would drain my energy.
I did both activities on my play list (Skype & finished scrapbook items) and none on my to-do list. I need to go to goodwill, but really before I do that I need to go through the house one more time and put the items in my car. So I’m going to do that tonight and take them on my way to work tomorrow.
Did you watch the Oprah in Australia episodes? I watched them this weekend too and now I really want to go there!
I finally sorted and dusted and organized the storage room. I came accross so many empty containers from purging. I didn’t realize they were a quarter of the clutter themselves. Crazy!
I will keep in mind that my containers need to nest. I made a keep pile and the rest I loaded up the few other things that are going to goodwill and the neighborhood kids. I usually use shopping bags… this time they can keep the container too:)
Cheer competition took up the rest of the weekend.
Now I need to get the house ready for the girls birthday party Saturday. One turns 19 and the youngest will be 10. Sleepover the next weekend. Party time:)

Didn’t do very well on my lists this week!

Our schedule changed so I didn’t do either things on my play list but it was filled with other fun stuff so that is fine.
