So it’s Friday, again! And it’s a rainy Friday. Again! It has been an incredibly wet and dreary October in my neck of the woods. But, oh well. I guess that’s what umbrellas are for.
So what’s on your Friday to-do list? Mine is simple and sweet: Enjoy spending time with my Dad. Yay! My Dad and his wife are in town for a visit, and I’m seriously just so happy to see him. So, no projects this weekend—just some trick-or-treating and relaxing with this very-special-to-me man that I call Dad.
So no finishing for me this weekend…just sitting back, relaxing and enjoying the fruits of past weekends labor, like this fun (or perhaps funny) little project:

This project came together over the course of a couple of weekends. I was inspired by an article about seasonal decorating in this magazine. The article talked about simple ways to transform your home’s decor for Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas and then New Year by using the same items in different ways for each holiday. So that got my creative juices flowing—I loved the idea, but wasn’t really sure how to pull it off in my home.
Then, I saw another project in Better Homes and Gardens where they strung pressed leaves from a ribbon on an empty, painted picture frame. Viola! I’ll hang ghosts from an old picture frame. The best part of this project is that it cost nothing. The frame was a curb-side “find” (thank you “Auntie Phyl”), and the ghosts were made from our old bed skirt and fiber fill that I had on hand. Fun and free—gotta’ love that.
I’m hoping to do some other seasonal projects for Thanksgiving and Christmas using this frame. Who knows if and when inspiration will strike? We’ll see…perhaps a future Finish It Friday project.
So…that’s my weekend, and a little look back into projects completed in weekend’s past. I’d love to hear what’s on your Finish It Friday list! I hope you have a wonderful, productive and relaxing weekend. See you on Monday!
What a clever idea!

I am back this week with two items from last weeks list:
*Make homemade cleaning supplies
*Cut and rinse Capri Sun drink pouches for my son’s school (we get to recycle them and get money)
*Continue to separate old coupons for military bases.
*Clean off my kitchen table (currently serves as a desk for laptop, mail and other interesting things)
Wish me luck! 🙂
My goal is to finish weaving in ends on the border of a little sweater I’m knitting for my granddaughter. There were 54 to start with!
I’m also finishing the decision portion for a sweater for my grandson — choosing colors and just how big to make it — trying to guess at how big he is now, and how fast he’ll grow, how long this will fit him, how fast I’ll knit…. It’s my own pattern, so the sizing is up to me.
Cute project!

After a number of weeks madness at work (which followed a few months over the Aussie winter away from home), ive been inspired to declutter my apartment. So far so good (although my Friday lists are rather over-optimistic in terms of what i think i can do)!! So, apart from the usual washing etc, this weekend ive managed to:
* sew 2 new cushion covers for throw-cushions for the lounge (2 to go)
* scrub down my balcony and plan additional vegies in pots
* fix a leaking tap for my balcony hose and fit the hose to one of those hose reel things (single handygirl rocks!!)
* decent time on the treadmill
* spoil myself with a purchase of 2 second hand books on DIY
* sort out my desk
* have a dancing lesson
now time for a glass of champers!!! thanks so much for the inspiration i find on your pages….
Awwwww. That ghost frame is adorable! Amazing what one can do with curb-side finds and old bed skirts.
I’m having session withdrawals. ;>{ Every time I think I’m going to get lazy, I hear a happy voice telling me to do my homework first! The voice also tells me that I’ll feel better if I complete just 15 to 30 minutes worth at a time. Here’s what I did this Saturday and Sunday:
* Dusted and vacuumed the “craft” room
* Thinned out the ribbons and trims bin
* Washed, dryed, and PUT AWAY the laundry.
* Ironed 25 items of clothing
* Best of all – Cooked a real full course meal for myself. YUMMY!
That is so cute.
I love it, simply beautiful project.
