It’s not like I needed another reason to love Target, but now I have one anyway. My latest Target love is called itso. Have you seen it? There’s a quick peek below and then hop on into your nearest Target to check it out in all it’s glory (or visit www.target.com/itso.) Just look at the organizational potential from this new line…
(photo from Target website.)
Now I have to confess, seeing itso was love at first sight. I haven’t tried this product yet, so I can’t vouch for anything other than the fact that it looks so darn fabulous! Let’s talk about organizational bliss and possibilities…from the kid’s room (like above) to closets to the laundry room to your scrapbook room. That’s right, this line might just be a scrapbookers dream come true. The dimensions of the storage cube are 14 3/4″ square…and you know what that means scrapbookers: your 12″ x 12″ card-stock will fit in there oh-so-nicely. Gotta’ love that.
The itso line includes cubes, doors, boxes, magazine holders, utility boxes, fabric bins (in two sizes), drawers, shelves, and doors, like those two doors down in the photo above…which happen to be dry erase! Yes, that’s right: dry erase! Brilliant.
Now, as an IKEA Expedit cube enthusiast, I will say this: itso is a bitso more expensive. But, on the plus side, you don’t have to drive to IKEA to get it. (Which helps me, because the closest IKEA is about $150 in gas away from my home…so there’s a nice addition to the itso budget. Wouldn’t you say?) The other thing I like about itso is the shelf accessory which allows you to divide a cube in half—opens up more storage possibilities. Plus there’s all those containers designed to fit in the cubes…like the canvas bins, boxes, drawers, etc. Oh, I can’t wait to try this!
So I’m dying to know…has anyone else seen itso? And even better, have you used itso for any or your organizing projects? I am dying to know if it’s as good as it looks. So please share if you have any experience with itso, or if your as smitten as I am by looking at the photos. I really need to share this giddiness with someone…because no one in the Garvey household was getting it. 😉
I’ve noticed it in the store but didn’t really like it…too plasticky to me. (Says she whose family room is overrun by plastic toys!) I like the concept but not the plastic-ness.

I saw it yesterday and was intrigued. I wish you could divide the cubes into three drawers instead of just two drawers, so they wouldn’t be so deep for more shallow scrapbook storage. I did think they were a little pricey though, but I’m sure they’ll be on sale some time 🙂
Oh I’ve seen it alright. However, I was worried about it being plastic-looking too. Ikea’s is wood (or wood bits), and it’s cheaper. However, don’t let that sway my enthusiasm for anything oraniz-y! I was all over it when I spotted it. I soooo get it. You need to buy it so you can convince us that we all need another shelving unit for our homes!
I am usually not a fan of plastic, either, so I hear you on that one. They do have a wood laminate version. Not sure if it’s a nice wood laminate or not, and if they have it in the store or just online. Intersting. Any other votes for “too plasticy?” I think plastic is good is some spots…like a laundry room, or a kids play room, or the garage. Anywhere messy. But…I guess the idea of pricey AND plastic is much less appealing. Can’t wait to hear what others think of this!
These are adorable. Love the colors… but my biggest question (and, mind you, I’ve only looked at these online – had I read this before I left Target earlier today… I would have gone to check them out)… is how do they “connect?” Is there some kind of bracket in the back that combines them all… or a “click and lock” thing about them that I didn’t notice in the video?
Aby, I saw them a couple of weeks ago & so thought of you!
I was going to email you to see if you’ve seen them, but I
forgot!
I like the wood laminate ones. Even without getting the whole cube system, they have unique sized containers that most places
don’t have. Did you see the taller plastic ones? …They showed a picture of having cleaning supplies in them.
Haven’t gotten anything, but want to!
I saw this system this weekend. The cubes did seem a bit plasticy and not very attractive but the fabric bins and drawers were very nice. There are tons of different options. The wood laminate looked much better than the plastic but is more expensive. I don’t know how it would wear, either. The whole system is a little cheaper than the Closet Maid version (which I think is also sold at Target) but is still pretty expensive considering the cheap looking plastic. Why oh why can’t there be an IKEA in every town?
I looked at the web site and the wood laminate does look nice but I do want to see some pieces in person. I have been planning on buying the Expedit shelves but I think I do need to compare the cost, especially the gas to Chicago! Do you think we will ever get an Ikea store closer to St. Louis??? I did like the assortment of bins, boxes, etc. It is really quite a variety of options! thanks for letting us know about this!
Haven’t seen them yet, but I did love your $150 away Ikea analogy! Thats why I havent been to Ikea in a while too so maybe I should just head over to Target instead.
I seen this system in Target last week….liked the actual drawers, but the cubes seem to just stack on top of each other. I still love my Expedit, so I will not be replacing it!
I saw Itso last week, and loved it! My boys (14 and 16) share a room, and one wall is Elfa-shelved from Container Store for their books, TV, game system and desk area (which is never used, sigh). The shelves are all white, as is the trim, but the walls are denim blue and an olivey-grass green. When I saw the colors of Itso, I knew it would go so WELL in their room! Still deciding on which they need, but I do love the system.
And BTW, loved your ideas of bringing home organizing souveniers from trips. Great idea!
Oh my gosh — this looks AWESOME!!! I may have to take a trip to Target today just to check it out.
Ohhh, I saw this the other day with my kids while shopping . . . I’m dying for a review also since the price was a little steep – however, I may just have to give it a go in my kids’ playroom and a bedroom may inherit the wooden one that’s already out there. Definitely LOVE the shelf idea in the middle of the cube – and all those cute little containers with lids to boot! Yippee!! ~april
I saw this today in our weekly Target Sales ad too. So the low prices are here already!

Saw the Itso stuff at Target today. We have an Expedit from Ikea and today I bought several of the large fabric bins from the Itso line and they fit the Expedit PERFECTLY. I love them! The wood units look nice, but I am not sure I am digging the plastic itso cubes…they look a bit flimsy. Overall, though, I give itso 2 thumbs up…and it is on sale this week, so you can’t beat that!
Seriously excited that the bins fit Expedit! Oh, wow, that is too exciting! Thanks for sharing that, Cindy. And thank you, Julie, for sharing that itso is on sale this week! I don’t see any brackets or anything to connect the cubes together though, like Amanda asked. (I just watched the video, too.) And, I didn’t see the tall plastic bins…but will have to check those out when I go back to target. If anyone takes the plunge on itso, be sure to share! — Aby
Looks so cool! Thanks to all the commenters too for the helpful thoughts on it!
I bought the plastic version. At first thought to plastic but for me and where they are I love them. They are for my scrapbook rooma and I love that they will not chip and scratch up.
I bought wood cubes at target similar to this a few years ago. They look great but like wood laminate they chip . They were expensive but look really nice. Also I am very careful with my stuff so it is not that I abuse them etc.
They do clip together and you really have to line them up to get them all clipped together.
I found if you use the wheels or the legs they were not stable enough for my uses. So they sit right on the floor and look great and are perfect for me.
I bought the doors today and I thought they looked cheesy but I like the dry erase boards. I also took a glue dot ( removeable) and attached a scrapbook flower to the door to personalize it.
For me it is wonderful.
For kids I think it is great as they will not nick and stratch all up.
For a living room etc……….not for me.
Just FYI, two years later…I just saw the itso cubes for the first time after recently purchasing a HUGE Expedit system from IKEA. The large fabric Itso cubes could not fit more perfectly in the IKEA boxes. They fill the boxes edge to edge. I got one to try it out. I like the fact that the cubes come in a better variety of colors than the fabric cubes at IKEA…can’t recall the IKEA price, but considering the drive for us, $8.99 reg. price may just have to work for us. I like the coordinating colors…pinks and blues and polka dots! Kinda funky. I’ll be headed back to Target to round up some more.
I have a tall closet, so I bought the plastic ITSO bins at Target and stacked them in a set of 4 down, 4 across. I used the tan and dark brown fabric bins (the heavy ones, not the lighter cheaper version) and both the plastic cubes and the fabric bins look wonderful. They are easy to stack, but the one complaint I have are the brackets. They give you four per bin, but really if you are going to stack 3 rows or more together you need the brackets for both clippings the boxes and to attach each row to each other, and if you are not careful, they can warp/break easily even when simply putting them in. I noticed in the Target display version, they actually used metal screws in theirs. Most likely because the plastic ITSO brackets can pull apart if customers are too aggressive in handling them. I wish ITSSO had a way to buy more, but at least in my store, they don’t. Other than that, they are fabulous. They don’t look cheap at all, very sturdy and perfect for my office closet. The heavier cloth binds are very durable as well. Don’t be afraid to buy these. They look great, clean easily and very durable and functional.
