Updated 01.14.08. Thank you all for your outpouring of support! Our deadline has come and gone and we have 38 boxes on their way to make-a-wish! Thank you, thank you, thank you! And we got a great variety of items…if my records are good…I think we fulfilled the entire wish list! Woohoo! Thank you again. 🙂
Oh…and the folks at Make-A-Wish wanted me to thank you for your incredible generoisty, too!
In mid-December I was contacted by a volunteer with the Bay Area Make-a-Wish Foundation. She was working on granting a wish for a teenage girl whose wish is for an outdoor art studio. She was hoping I would donate a copy of my book.
“Yes.” I replied, “I’m happy to donate a copy of my book. But is there more I can do? What else does she need to get her studio set up?”
See, the teenage girl wants to scrapbook and stamp and make cards in her new outdoor studio. And since it just so happens that I know a few scrapbookers, I thought we could set her up with some other things to make her studio wish come true.
I casually mentioned this to my friend Jeanette the brains (and beauty) behind Scrap In Style TV and Jeanette was all over it. She is donating supplies left and right. Love that girl and her big, kind heart.
There are a few items still needed and I was thinking some of you might want to help. This could be kind of like a two-for-one wish come true. You could help make a teenager’s wish for an outdoor art studio come true, and lighten your load of a few scrapbook supplies, too. This will help make your wish of an organized and inspired scrapbook space all the more real. Sound like a plan? Great.
OK. here’s what we need:
- Embossing supplies: embossing powders, heat gun (wish granted!), embossing buddy, embossing ink pads.
- Rubber stamps and ink.
- Decorative scissors. (wish granted!)
- Envelopes.
- Paper punches.
- Adhesive.
- Cardstock.
- Patterned paper.
- Stickers.
- Embellishments.
So, if you’re interested in donating, please send me an email (and post in the comments so others know what’s being donated) ASAP listing the items you’d like to donate. I’ll email you the address so you can send the supplies directly to Make-a-Wish. Once the wish for a specific item has been filled, I’ll update this blog post.
The wish grant date has been moved up, so we need to get all of our donations in the mail by this Monday, January 14th.
If “organize scrapbook supplies” is on your New Year to-do list…today is the day! Get into your space and see what good condition supplies you can donate to this wonderful cause.
Thanks so much for your help. You guys are the best!!
I would love to donate some patterned paper, cardstock, and ribbon – and maybe a few more things once I start filling up a box. Thanks for passing along the opportunity to donate to such a wonderful cause!! :o)
I would love to donate a bunch of stuff. I used to sell Creative Memories so I have some extra supplies laying around to donate (small paper trimmer, cutting mat, the custom cutting circle & ovals some pens, paper, a shoe box full of stickers) I even have an crop in style binder with a bunch of pages to store stickers and stuff too that I can donate.
I have a bunch of stickers I can donate. I know there’s already someone donating stickers, but lots of stickers are a good thing, right?!
I would love to help. I have brand new packs of cardstock (more than I will ever use) and some stamps.
What do you think about donating used stamps??? Not ones that are battered to heck, but they’ve been used a couple times by me:) I also can send a few punches. I will send you an email:)
I would love to put something together for her as well. I have a ton of patterned paper, cardstock, ribbon, I have some storage bags (crop/style pink…), I have LOTS of embellishments (buttons, brads, eyelets).
i’ll email you.

I can provide some adhesives, heat gun, some embossing powders, cardstock, envelopes, patterned papers, and possible few other stuff… i tend to check out craigslist for good deals. When I purchase a lot, I tend to have doubles of items. Who needs two heat guns?!? ;P
what a perfect time for your post.. im cleaning out my crafty space today… i will email and post here later tonight what i can donate…..
i’m pretty sure i’ll have
pattern paper
embellies
stickers
punches
rubberstamps and ink ( slightly used if this is ok)
maybe even embossing stuff…
i’d be glad to donate it…
I have a whole collection of frame-ups titles, cut-outs, and frames, as well as the idea book ($100 worth). They are as cute as can be, but “out of style” currently, but I think that a teenager would really love them. If you think she would like this, I’d be happy to mail them off.
I have some older ink pads and stamps that are still in good condition and some embossing powders. Who knows what else I can find once I get going, glad to help out. 🙂
This came at a perfect time – I’ve been putting extras into a box waiting for a cause. I will donate decorative scissors, brads, stickers, and patterned paper.
I would like to donate ribbon, pattern paper and some glitter pens.
Oh my gosh —- I’m sure I have tons of stuff to donate.
I have loads of paper – plenty of stickers – possibly some embellishments.
Hi Aby,
I would love to donate all the scrapbooking materials that I have been trying to get rid of to this lovely young lady! I have a box full of new stamps that she would love and adore! Please let me know where I have to send them since I will be sending it via Priority Mail to the states!
Hugs,
Vida 🙂
I’d like to help out, too! I’ve got lots of cardstock, pattern paper, stickers, embellies and misc. Does she need any albums?
I have 12 pairs of decorative scissors that are barely used. I also have something, not on the list but goes with the idea… a envelope making kit. Comes with directions and templates for tons of sizes of envelopes, it could go with the card making 🙂

Aby, is this the San Francisco Bay Area Make-a-Wish? If so, I’d like to contact them about helping them to set up the space. Thanks! Lain
Hi Abby,
I would love to donate Envelopes. What type are you thinking? I also have tons of Pattern Paper that I would be willing to send her way. Let me know where to send it.
Thanks!
I have lots of patterned paper and cardstock. I’ll get right to it. I might have some embellies too. I’ll start looking around and packing it up.
