How’s everyone doing on their 12 week goals? I have a progress report to post tomorrow but wanted to see how all of you are doing? We’ve got ten weeks left … so if you’re sitting on the sidelines there’s still time to jump in and create real and lasting change this summer! Kudos to all of you who have taken the challenge. Can’t wait to hear about your progress.
My dad is in town for a semi-surprise visit … so I’m going to be brief tonight and go hang out with him. Just finished catching fire flies. Is there a better way to spend a summer night? I can’t think of one.
Finished organizing my laundry room last weekend, and WOW! how great it is to walk in and out of the house now. It is unbelievable how big it feels and how good it looks. I knew it felt bad to walk into the disaster area that it was, I just didn’t realize how depressing it was to see that mess everytime I came and went. I organized the pantry in there too, and over the weekend when I needed to find the Goo Gone, I knew exactly where it was. Imagine that! I labeled the cabinets and have dared my family to put something back where it doesn’t belong!
Anyway, this organization thing is addictive. The laundry room made me feel so good I immediately went upstairs and organized the girls’ bathroom. Even though it wasn’t on the list of rooms to organize for the 12 week challenge, I couldn’t help myself. It looks great, and we can actually find McKenzie’s hair accessories when we need them in the morning. Again, imagine that!
I can’t wait to finish the other rooms. I’ve decided that I’d better make a plan if I’m going to complete the challenge and get all the rooms done. So far, two down and 4 to go. Two rooms, my office and the bedroom in the basement, are really going to be a challenge. I thought the laundry room would take a couple of hours, and it actually took two days. That means it’s probabaly going to take over a week to do the office and the bedroom. Better get my plans on paper so I can figure out how to get it completed in 10 more weeks. I’m going to be out of town several times between now and then, so I really need to spend some time developing a plan to succeed.
I haven’t checked in before, but wanted to let you know that I did start a 12 week goal program. For the past year I’ve been on-again, off-again with my diet and exercise program. But with your challenge I decided to apply myself faithfully for the next 12 weeks. I started a bit later than your challenge, but I’m now on day 3 and am doing well so far. this might not be an “organizing” goal per sa, but it’d definitly helping me stay focused on my goal of being healthier. 84 days isn’t that long, right? I can do it! ~Pam
there has been some good progress and some not so good progress…
We are about 90% done with the new office, and am excited to finish up the last few details (hopefully today) and slap some paint up on the walls as well…
We moved on to the living/dining room for some major reorganizing…but our project fell short of success because sadly, our ideas for rearranging won’t work…our house is small and laid out sort of weird, and we like our living area to feel calm and relaxing…our new arrangement would have put our relaxing place right next to the busy kitchen and a view down the hall to the other rooms…so we are back at square one.
If we had the financial resources to buy, oh, say a plasma wall mount TV…then I feel certain we wouldn’t have the issues with the space that we are currently having…so hopefully we can make that happen one day.
So, now the house is torn up, the garage is exploding with stuff, and we are putting things back where they were to begin with…I know I will feel frustrated with the lack of balance in the room, but will have to deal with it at least until we can get a storage unit and have our garage sale….
Thankfully, I have my new office and quaint peaceful bedroom to escape too when it all get’s to be too much for my sensitive nature to handle!!lol!!
Thanks for keeping me focused and giving me a chance to celebrate the successes of the project, rather than stay stuck on the setbacks.
