I feel as if I’ve crawled under a rock. Yesterday was an “in-office” day and it occurred to me at around midnight that I never stepped foot outside. All. Day. Long. I think this is called hyper-focused (or anti-social?)
Working on lots of new, fun stuff right now and completely freaking out that summer is almost over. Three more weeks. I’m getting the kids’ rooms completely reorganized (fun!) so we can start the school year on the right foot. They shared a room for the past year, out of choice, and it worked out great! (For a while.)
Then, the mess started piling up as my daughter kept bringing more and more things into my son’s already overcrowded room…the room they were sharing.
AHHHHHHHG.
It was making me a bit nutty.
On top of all of that, my son had no where to play. Sure, he could go hang out in his sister’s pink room, but let’s just say, she was much more comfortable hanging out in his blue room than he was hanging out in her pink room. Go figure. So Kailea had 1-1/2 rooms in which to spread out her 100’s of stuffed animals, baby dolls, and other trinkets and treasures, and Collin had half a room and barely enough space to spread out a few dozen Lego’s. Not the best plan.
So, that’s what I’ve been up to: getting my kids set up and ready for the new (organized) school year. I think we’ll go out and buy school supplies this weekend and we register for school today. Can’t believe we’re doing all of this again, already!
How about you? Are you getting your kiddos ready for school? Do you have any fun traditions you do to celebrate the end of summer or to get ready for the school year? I’d love to hear from you! Once we’re done with all this organizing, we’ll be ready for some end-of-summer fun. Well…at least they will. I’ll probably be ready for even more organizing fun. 😉
(Until then, I’m crawling back under my rock.) 😉
I have done all of the shopping for school, they started today! I was ready, and they were more than ready! I am glad that they like school that much.
Speaking of organizing, how do you ever get it done in a kids room? I have been trying since last March to get the youngest room done and have hit a wall. It is frustrating when you get no help from the room owner either.
Have a good rest of the summer.
My husband and I are both elementary school teachers and getting ready for summer to end as well. While I am excited to meet a new class of kiddos, I am a little sad about my loss of “summer freedom”. You asked if anyone had any end of summer traditions. I don’t, but I was hoping maybe you had some ideas or you could post other readers’ ideas. I’m thinking of maybe doing a little summer farewell party to ease the transition back to school for kids and all, and I’d like to see what others are doing as well. : )
My kids are too young for school (the oldest has another year to go before he starts), but what I am doing is trying to get their toyroom cleaned and organized. Their rooms could also use some work too, so that’s what I’m researching right now, how to organize kids rooms and toyrooms.
No school until next year. I was an elementary teacher before a SAHM and I do miss all the “newness” of back to school. I am enjoying my children and stocking my store with the fall clothes that are arriving daily. Whew!
We are doing the same thing. Kids rooms. It actaully has been fun in a way getting everything organised for the new year.
School supplies this weekend. 🙂
The summer is coming to a close which means we will heading to our cottage in Maine for a couple of weeks and relaxing. Relaxing with 3 1/2 yr old twins!! haha But I did spend the past 5 hours (I think – my husband could proably tell you how much time) reading all of your blog. Skimming some but mostly reading. I haven’t scrapbooked in my life but have a huge box of “wishes” that someday, somewhere, I’ll have time to get into it. Thanks for all the insight, inspiration and laughter (some tears – poor ol’ Buddy) but what a great blog. I don’t even know how I found it – maybe it found me. :o)
